Founded in 1973, PFLAG is the first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families. PFLAG’s network of hundreds of chapters and more than 325,000 members and supporters works to create a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.
Advocacy is a big part of the mission of PFLAG: Our organizational roots are in activism, starting nearly 50 years ago with one mom in New York who took to the streets with a homemade sign, advocating for equality and justice for her gay child. Our members and supporters are building on that legacy, working to achieve LGBTQ+ equality by changing hearts, minds, and laws. PFLAG works at the local level, at the city and state level, and at the federal level to effect change so that people who are LGBTQ+ are protected from discrimination, harassment, and harm.
Below you'll find resources to help you with advocacy, teach you about lobbying, and share all about PFLAG National's legislative priorities. Our tools will also help you feel confident as you meet with your legislators, go to town halls, plan events, advocate through social media, and more.
