We are excited to welcome new leaders to the PFLAG National Board of Directors!

Based in Houston, Larry Ryan is Business President of Energy and Water Solutions with The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), a longtime corporate partner of PFLAG National. Larry is currently the Dow North American GLAD (Gay, Lesbian, Allies at Dow Employee Network) executive sponsor, the Houston Dow Center WIN (Women’s Innovation Network) sponsor and serves on the Junior Achievement Southeast of Texas Board of Directors. He and his wife, Laura, live in Texas with their daughter Caite and their son Sean, who recently came out as gay, attends Columbia University. Larry will continue to serve on the PFLAG National Business Advisory Board and will help lead efforts on the PFLAG National 2017 Straight for EqualityTM gala.

Apoorva Gandhi is Vice President for Multi-Cultural Affairs for Marriott International, where he is responsible for the company’s global strategy building preference and loyalty from diverse communities. To support Marriott’s high-growth leadership, he helps align the company’s marketing, sales and operations to reflect multi-cultural markets and public affairs. A longtime ally to the LGBTQ community, Apoorva is a founding member of the PFLAG National Business Advisory Board, and twice has served as the co-chair of the Straight for Equality national gala.

Isolda Atayde Canestrelli came to PFLAG by way of her involvement in the organization while living in Mexico, where she worked as an accounting and tax professional with longtime PFLAG National corporate partner KPMG. The parent of two young children, Isolda and her family now reside in New Jersey, where she moved in part to provide a better environment for her daughters. She is involved with support groups in Spanish-speaking countries outside the U.S. and with PFLAG National programmatic partner Gender Spectrum in the United States.

Dawn Holt is president of PFLAG Portland and also serves as the Pacific Northwest’s volunteer Regional Director. The mother of a gay son, Dawn will continue to serve on PFLAG National’s board member-driven Diversity and Inclusion Task Force.

PFLAG National board president Jean Hodges is thrilled by these additions. “The strategic goals of diversity, visibility, sustainability, and partnership were established by the PFLAG National Board of Directors to strengthen PFLAG as the national family and voice for LGBTQ equality. These goals will be strongly supported by these four outstanding new directors, each of whom is, in their own way, a champion of diversity and inclusion efforts, and of PFLAG. We are thrilled to have them as part of the team.”

Current Board members Robert A. Marchman, Executive Vice President of the Market Regulation Department’s Legal Group at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and Latoria Farmer, Executive Director, HR, Diversity and Corporate Responsibility for KPMG LLP, will each serve another term. All terms begin on October 1, 2016, the start of PFLAG National’s 2017 fiscal year.

We thank all of our PFLAG National Board members for their leadership and their dedication to our vision of creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
