Looking for ways to keep the conversation going about LGBTQ+ issues with your ERG, community group, or PFLAG chapter? Welcome to Something to Talk About, a series designed by PFLAG National’s Straight for Equality  program to create conversation about LGBTQ+ issues. Each month we’ll offer an article on LGBTQ+ topics and suggest a few questions you can use to lead a discussion.

We hosted a conversation about this article as a part of PFLAG Connects and Something to Talk About Live on Thursday, February 11. Did you miss it? You can still watch it here!

Source: BuzzFeed News

Author: Angela Chen

Questions for Discussion:

  1. Can you describe what the words asexual and aromantic mean? How do they differ? Are there other terms about being asexual and/or aromantic allies should know?
  2. In your personal and professional experience, what are some of the ways that people who are asexual are made invisible in modern society? What types of discrimination do asexual people often face?
  3. What can we do to create more inclusive spaces for people who are asexual and/or aromantic? In other words, what are some specific things that people who want to be allies should start doing and what are some things that they need to stop doing?
