Looking for ways to keep the conversation going about LGBTQ+ issues with your ERG, community group, or PFLAG chapter? Welcome to Something to Talk About, a series designed by PFLAG National’s Straight for EqualityTM program to create conversation about LGBTQ+ issues. Each month we’ll offer an article on LGBTQ+ topics and suggest a few questions you can use to lead a discussion.
We hosted a conversation about this article as a part of PFLAG Connects and Something to Talk About Live on Thursday, January 14. Did you miss it? You can still watch it here!

Questions for Discussion:
- Talk about your ideas around the queer appeal of Wonder Woman. Where does it really come from? Does how this love for the character show up and mean different things across different parts of the community (e.g., perceptions of gay men vs. those of trans folks)?
- In 2016, artist Greg Rucka clarified that Wonder Woman is, in fact, bisexual. How significant do you think it is that her sexual orientation is defined? Do you think that this makes the character more or less accessible to audiences? And has this clarification really influenced mainstream perception?
- Do you think that the widespread appeal of characters like Wonder Woman is opening opportunities for less visible (and more inclusive) characters in the comic universe to emerge? What's next, and what should fans look for?
