Looking for ways to keep the conversation going about LGBTQ issues with your ERG, community group, or PFLAG chapter? Welcome to Something to Talk About, a monthly series designed by PFLAG National’s Straight for EqualityTM program to create conversation about LGBTQ issues. Each month we’ll offer an article on LGBTQ topics and suggest a few questions you can use to lead a discussion.

Questions for Discussion:
- If you watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with friends and family, how did folks react during The Prom performance? How did it make you feel?
- The Prom is a Broadway show about a young lesbian couple whose desire to attend the prom leads the PTA to cancel the dance. If something similar happened in your community, what local, state, and national resources would you recommend to students and/or parents?
- In your opinion, why might parents struggle to have conversations about sexual orientation and gender identity with their children? Do you have any suggestions that might help parents? What would have been helpful for you when you were a child?
