Looking for ways to keep the conversation going about LGBTQ issues with your ERG, community group, or PFLAG chapter? Welcome to Something to Talk About a monthly series designed by PFLAG National’s Straight for Equality program to create conversation about LGBTQ issues. Each month we’ll offer an article on LGBTQ and ally topics and suggest a few questions you can use to lead a discussion.

Questions for Discussion:
- What is your experience with organized sports? On teams that you have been a part of and/or been a fan of, do you think it would be safe for an LGBTQ player to come out?
- Cyd Zeigler from OutSports suggests that the media’s overwhelmingly negative narrative about locker room culture reinforces the fears of gay male athletes and may prevent them from coming out. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
- When professional athletes make anti-LGBTQ remarks publically, do you think organizations like MLB, MLS, the NBA, the NFL, and the NHL have a responsibility to respond? If so, what kind of response is appropriate? If not, how do you think these situations should be handled?
