How Effective Strategic Planning Leads to Innovative Community Programming

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn from one chapter’s experience with in-depth strategic planning process and the resulting innovative community programming. Workshop leaders will share the fundamental steps to developing a strategic plan for your chapter, including data gathering, articulating a long-term vision, developing strategic priorities, and building project plans in support of those priorities. A sample and adaptable strategic plan will be shared with participants. The second part of the workshop will focus on innovative educational programming best practices. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, and workshop leaders will share specific replicable ideas for collaborations within the faith, healthcare, and legal sectors of your community.

2019 Convention - Cindy DeutschCindy Deutsch, PFLAG Charlotte    

Cindy Chibucos Deutsch serves on the Board of PFLAG Charlotte. Cindy is Director of Development for Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen in Huntersville, NC. Cindy and her husband Rich reside in Huntersville, NC, with their two daughters, Heather, Abby, and her dachshund, Chloe. Cindy enjoys spending time with family, helping others, and reading. Cindy believes one of the best ways to help LGBTQ+ youth is to support their parents. She writes a blog called about parenting her transgender daughter. 

2019 Convention - Karen GraciKaren Tessmer Graci, PFLAG Charlotte        

Karen Tessmer Graci is Executive Director and Board Chair of PFLAG Charlotte. Karen formerly served as Manager of PFLAG Charlotte’s Healthcare Outreach Initiative and has led educational and awareness workshops for healthcare providers, educators, and other community members. Previously, Karen worked with Deloitte in Washington, D.C., Wilton, CT, and Charlotte, NC where her roles included Manager of National Recruiting and Chief of Staff, National Human Resources. Married, Karen and her husband, Jeff, live in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have two daughters, Heather and Amber, and two adorable cockapoos. Karen enjoys playing bridge, traveling, and connecting people as we work together to create a more inclusive world. 

2019 Convention - Annabelle PardoAnnabelle Pardo, PFLAG Charlotte

Annabelle Pardo is the Vice President of Development and a Board Member for PFLAG Charlotte. On her 9 to 5, Annabelle is the Human Resources and Office Administrator for an immigration law firm, and a property manager for her personal rental real estate portfolio. Previously, she worked in the banking industry for Bank of America and BB&T, holding positions as Vice President, Branch Manager, and Wealth Private Banker. Annabelle is married to Jorge Pardo and together they have two children: Nicolas and Sebastian. She enjoys traveling, dancing, and helping others with their entrepreneurial goals.
