LGBTQ history and culture tells the story of a vibrant, diverse, and determined community that has overcome massive barriers and deeply influenced mainstream culture. PFLAG is an important part of that story, but there are countless other people and organizations who shaped who we are today.
In this session you’ll:
- Discuss why conversations about LGBTQ history and culture are so important and the significance of the erasure of key figures and events;
- Learn more about many of the symbols, events, people, places, and references used by LGBT people and allies in conversation;
- Get some great insight into how LGBTQ history and culture influences larger culture and impacts the work we continue to do in communities all over the country today, and;
- Consider the ways that LGBTQ history and culture can be integrated into your PFLAG chapter’s support, education, and advocacy efforts.
