PFLAG chapters, leaders, and members have a long tradition of giving back to the communities where they live. Since 2015, the PFLAG Gives Back program – a community service effort for PFLAG chapters – has been an integral part of our biennial convention. And thanks to the generous support of the Subaru Foundation, we’ve been able to create a resource that will help you and your chapter create, develop, and/or grow volunteer projects for your chapter.
In, this session we will:
- Better understand how community service, volunteerism, and giving back help PFLAG National and the network of 400+ chapters achieve PFLAG’s mission
- Consider a number of questions that chapter leaders should answer before launching a PFLAG Gives Back program in their community
- Walk through three models for giving back – donation drives, on-site volunteer projects, and DIY projects – and which option will best meet the needs of your chapter
- Introduce PFLAG Gives Back: A Guide to Chapter-Based Community Service Projects as well as other resources that will help to ensure your project is a success
