Anti-LGBTQ violence – both reported and unreported – continues along with hate crimes based on race, religion, gender, national origin, and other real or perceived identities. Too many of us live with the uncertainty of brutality striking our children, friends, and loved ones. PFLAG plays a vital role in helping to prevent hate crimes in our communities.
To that end, PFLAG National has created the Hate Crimes Prevention Guide & Toolkit, a resource developed in tandem with our coalition partners and the U.S. Department of Justice. The guide, provides information and definitions for bias crimes, reviews the causes of hate-based violence, details prevention initiatives, and reviews model hate crime prevention programs for PFLAG chapters to adapt nationwide.
Through our chapters across the country, we are giving PFLAG members and supporters the tools to understand, combat, and ultimately prevent hate crimes in conjunction with local law enforcement and community leaders.
