LGBTQ+ youth continue to face bullying and harassment in schools despite modest improvements in anti-bullying legislation, access to supportive teachers and administrators, and the spread of LGBTQ+ inclusive curricula.
In this session, you’ll:
- Learn how to define and identify bullying and harassment and understand how to advocate for clear, concise, and enumerated policies in your children’s’ school
- Hear stories of bullying and harassment, the impact that negative experiences in schools have on youth, and consider what they can teach us about creating safer schools
- Review key research on bullying that highlights its pervasiveness in U.S. schools and ongoing impact on students to help you make the case for the urgency of action
- Find out more about what YOU and your chapter can do at the personal, local, state, and federal levels to support safer schools for ALL students
