With the new school year in full-swing, is your chapter having a tough time getting your foot in the door at schools in your community? This session examines the many different ways we can strive to make schools safer for LGBTQ+ students, by focusing on knowing and addressing how to best work with various school personnel.
In this session you’ll:
- Establish a shared definition of the term “safe schools” and explore what it means in the context of working to make schools safer for LGBTQ+ students;
- Identify key stakeholders in public school systems and learn about what messaging and data is most likely to resonate with them;
- Get access to resources and activities that you can share with school personnel to meet their needs and help them make schools a safer place for LGBTQ+ students; and
- Be able to use this new information to rethink and reshape safe schools efforts in your community
