This bill was introduced in the house by Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI), Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), and Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) as H.R.1404 and in the Senate by Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) as S.753 on March 17, 2015.
This bill will amend the Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance section of Title II of the Social Security Act to make sure that every same-sex couple that is legally wed in the United States receives full spousal social security benefits. These benefits would be applied regardless of the state’s position on same-sex marriage.
