Mark Bayer, a cisgender gay man, father, dedicated nursing professional, and community advocate residing in Pawleys Island, SC, has actively served on boards focused on healthcare and LGBTQ+ community centers and has founded and managed impactful medical and therapy programs.
The programs Mark has developed in his community include Project Safe Zone Workshops, Name Change Clinic, and Kindness for Kids Duffle bag program. He is a recent graduate of Georgetown County Chamber Leadership Program and has been accepted into the Waccamaw American Leadership Forum Class for 24-25.
Mark, who grew up in an ultra-religious Southern family, fought for his rights to his biological son in the late ’90s while he lobbied for marriage equality. Mark is married, and their family includes his biological son, an adopted son, and a chosen trans son through his PFLAG chapter leadership and their two Great Danes and Pittie puppy.
