PFLAG National Celebrates a Pro-Equality Win for LGBTQ+ People and Their Families
November 6, 2020
WASHINGTON—Following days of ballot counting, the voices of American voters have been heard. We the people have made our choice for the leadership of this country. Despite the pandemic and deliberate barriers, voters have done their job and turned out in record numbers, and as election officials across the country have confirmed, the outcome is clear. The next leaders of the U.S. are President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
Brian K. Bond, Executive Director of PFLAG National, released the following statement.
“Today, PFLAGers across the country mark victory in favor of equality for our LGBTQ+ loved ones and their families. The people have spoken and we’re done with leadership that sows fear, division, and discrimination. We turn now to the work ahead to restore the rights and freedoms of our democracy.
“LGBTQ+ people and their families can turn to leaders who value the rights of all people—inclusive of LGBTQ+ people, Black, Latinx, Native, Asian, Pacific Islander, disabled people, immigrants, and women—and who will work to fix what the current administration has broken. PFLAG National will never give up the fight to create safe and affirming communities where all people, inclusive of LGBTQ+ people, have opportunity, and are protected from harassment, discrimination, and harm.”
