Welcome to PFLAG Connects: Military Community! These safe, virtual, moderated monthly meetings, in partnership with our friends at Modern Military Association of America (MMAA) are open to parents, family members, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are also part of the military community. Each meeting will be led by current/former service members or military spouses who will guide you in receiving support, giving support, and finding resources to help you, your family, and your community. Thank you for attending this month’s Military PFLAG Connects: Communities meeting! These Military PFLAG Connects: Communities meetings take place every second Monday of the month. Below are some of the resources we mentioned during the recent call you may find helpful.
December Meeting Resources:
Election Outcome Joint Statement – A joint statement signed by 150 LGBTQIA2S+ organizations, including 41 PFLAG chapters and PFLAG National.
Mental Health Toolkit (TWLOHA) – Mental Health Toolkit offering valuable support for LGBTQIA+ people facing the pressures of the 2024 U.S. general election from the organization To Write Love on Her Arms’ (TWLOHA).
TransFamily Support Services – An organization based in southern Califoring dedicated to guiding transgender/non-binary youth and their families through the gender transitioning process to help make it the most positive experience possible.
Erin in the Morning – a newsletter with news and discussion on trans legislation and life.
Secretary of Defense “Heartbrun Letter” – A letter from DOD Secretary expressing concerns about provisions in the House/Senate NDAA.

- “Will & Harper” – A heart-warming film, “Will & Harper” is a story about friendship, allyship, and the journey to becoming your true self (Netlfix).
- “Heartstopper” – Teens Charlie and Nick discover their unlikely friendship might be something more as they navigate school and young love in this coming-of-age series (Netflix).
- “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” – An adult animated series with positive LGBTQ+ representation (Netflix).
- “Nimona” – An animated series with positive LGBTQ+ representation (Netflix).
- “Disclosure” – In this documentary, leading trans creatives and thinkers share heartfelt perspectives and analysis about Hollywood’s impact on the trans community (Netflix).
- “I Saw The TV Glow” – A teenager is trying to survive life in the suburbs when a classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night television show.

- “This Is How It Always Is” by Laurie Frankel – This Is How It Always Is is a novel about revelations, transformations, fairy tales, and family.
