Director of Communications

She, Her, Hers

(202) 657-4026

Liz Owen has served as Director of Communications at PFLAG National since January 2011. Prior to that, she served as Managing Director of Chicago’s Tony Award-winning Lookingglass Theatre, and then served as Executive Director of FilmBureau, a nonprofit organization for Chicago filmmakers.

In 2003, Liz moved from nonprofit communications to entertainment publicity, first in the National Film Publicity department at Paramount Pictures, and then as an independent consultant working with entertainment and nonprofit clients.

One of those clients was the LGBTQ film, TRU LOVED. For that campaign, she developed partnerships with numerous national LGBTQ+ organizations; among them was PFLAG National. After serving several more independent clients, Liz jumped on the opportunity to join the organization as Director of Communications.

Liz received her BS in Communications from Northwestern University. She is a #MusicalTheatreNerd, who loves spending time with her 17-year-old twins, Molly and Sam.
