PFLAG National Lauds Congressional Reintroduction of Equality Act

May 2, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC—PFLAG National—the nation’s largest organization uniting families, allies, and people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ)—lauded today’s reintroduction of the Equality Act in both the Senate and the House.

PFLAG National Interim Executive Director Elizabeth Kohm shared, “Every time someone who is LGBT is denied opportunity because of who they are–whether it’s a job, a home, public education or access to federally funded programs–it chips away at the very foundation of what makes our country great, and weakens us as a nation. Today’s reintroduction of the Equality Act is a critical step forward in reinforcing our shared core values of freedom and opportunity, which must extend to all people who wish to work hard, provide for their families, and take ownership in and responsibility for their jobs, their homes, their education–every aspect of their lives. We thank the legislators who stepped up today to move this bill forward, and know that our 400+ chapters across the country will work vigorously toward its passage.”
