John Lewis Every Child Deserves a Family Act

The Every Child Deserves a Family Act will prohibit anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination by any child welfare service provider receiving federal assistance. This includes discrimination targeting prospective adoptive or foster parents and discrimination aimed at the child/children involved based solely on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or, in the case of prospective parents, their marital status.

This bill was introduced in the House on 5/25/21 by Rep. Danny Davis and in the Senate on 05/26/2021 by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).

Action Request | Ask your Member of Congress and Senators to:

  • Support the Every Child Deserves a Family Act
  • Cosponsor this bill if they have not yet done so.
