When my child told me who they are, I didn't hesitate. They were still the same kid that I've loved from day one.”

I wasn’t scared when my child came out as trans to me. I was absolutely proud of them for owning who they are. But what I was terrified of, was a world that refused to see them. When my child told me who they are, I didn’t hesitate. They were still the same kid that I’ve loved from day one. But then a couple of years later, our state banned gender affirming care. That’s when the real fear hit me. Not of them, but for them.

We were absolutely lucky to find supportive therapists nearby. But for the care they really needed most, we have to cross state lines. That means packing bags, rearranging schedules because our lawmakers decided their identities didn’t deserve respect in our home state. But even on the hardest of days, love showed up in the smallest, fiercest ways. Like the first time our youngest child used their sibling’s new name. Now they go on to correct everyone. Teachers, family, strangers, it doesn’t matter. They are correcting everyone until the world catches up.

And that’s what support looks like. No apologies, just unwavering love. To every parent who’s navigating this journey – It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about showing up, learning, and refusing to let your child fight alone. Every child deserves that.
