PFLAG National Stands with Election Officials to Count All Votes

November 4, 2020

WASHINGTON—As election officials continue to count and verify ballots, Brian K. Bond, Executive Director of PFLAG National, released the following statement.

“Today, PFLAGers across the country stand with election officials to ensure that every vote is counted. With nearly 100 million early ballots cast out of an abundance of caution during this pandemic, we knew this process would take time, effort, and patience. As election officials do their work, PFLAGers turn now to the Supreme Court as it hears Fulton v. City of Philadelphia this morning, because the work to protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination continues.”

PFLAG National is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. With over 400 chapters and 200,000 members and supporters crossing multiple generations of families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural areas across America, PFLAG is committed to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed. Tonight, Nov. 4, at 8pm ET / 5pm PT, The NEAT and PFLAG National co-host an off-the-record town hall event to discuss Fulton v. City of Philadelphia. A panel of experts will break down the case, the arguments made at the court, potential outcomes, and what LGBTQ+ people and their families can do between now and #DecisionDay (#DD). Media interviews can be arranged with panelists or any of the more than 100 event co-sponsors by contacting affiliated organizations directly. More information and RSVP at OurDayInCourt.org.
