PFLAG Votes 2026: Turning Pride Into Power!
August 13, 2026
WASHINGTON—PFLAG National has launched its 2026 voting campaign, PFLAG Votes: Turning Pride into Power. From now through Election Day on Nov. 3, the organization will mobilize the PFLAG Chapter Network of more than 360 chapters and more than 550,000 PFLAG advocates to engage LGBTQ+ people, parents, families, and non-family allies to educate, organize, and vote.
“Turning Pride Into Power is about energizing and unifying PFLAG advocates and their networks to vote – because when we vote, we protect our families. When we educate, we empower our communities. When we organize, we build power. And when we show up together, we shape the future,” said Katie Blair, (she/her), Vice President, Advocacy for PFLAG National.
At a time when blatant efforts to dismantle access to education, healthcare, and the foundations of democracy appear on ballots across the country, Turning Pride Into Power helps drive meaningful action this election cycle. By visiting PFLAG.org/PFLAGvotes, advocates and allies for equity, inclusion, racial justice and LGBTQ+ rights can find tools and resources to register to vote, learn about the issues affecting LGBTQ+ people and families, and organize friends, loved ones, and their communities to vote this November.
“For people who care about access to education, who belongs in our communities, and who gets healthcare, the stakes of this election have never been higher. That is why we need every LGBTQ+ person, family member and ally to turn their Pride into Power and vote this November,” said Brian K. Bond, (he/him), Chief Executive Officer of PFLAG National.
In the most recent Reuters/IPSOS poll (7/24-26/2026), likely voters are not happy with their state legislatures (49% unfavorable versus 46% favorable) and Congress (59% unfavorable), and they feel overwhelmingly that things in this country are on the wrong track (66%). The reasons for these negative impressions are numerous, counting more than 600 anti-LGBTQ+ bills and amendments proposed by state and congressional lawmakers in 2026 to target education access, healthcare restrictions, identity documents, and marriage equality. While many of these measures trade on fears about transgender people, their impacts extend far beyond the LGBTQ+ community, threatening access to education, healthcare, safety, employment, housing, transportation, and financial resources for rural communities, women, people of color, people with disabilities, immigrants, and families of all kinds.
“No matter where you live, the color of your skin, or who you love, when an elected official’s decisions target LGBTQ+ people, and transgender folks and families in particular, the results affect all of us. Your vote is how you make a difference. It’s how you turn LGBTQ+ pride into power,” said Dr. Edith Guffey (she/her), Chair of the Board of PFLAG National.
