“Today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court is a heartbreaking one for LGBTQ+ students, families and employees of Montgomery County Public Schools. However, this ruling does not erase what PFLAG parents, students and educators have long known, and a vast body of research supports: All students benefit from a school climate that promotes inclusion, acceptance, and respect,” said Brian K. “As a person living with HIV who is able to get healthcare, this bill is mortifying and will cost lives. It will burden our healthcare system. It’s mean-spirited, short-sighted, politically motivated, and is government malpractice," said Brian K. Bond, CEO of PFLAG National.
“PFLAG parents are good and decent people who love their trans kids and want them to grow up to become thriving, happy, healthy adults. Yet, President Trump and other politicians maliciously harm our families by denying them access to physician-prescribed, medically recommended care. This order puts trans and nonbinary young people and their families at risk—and we’re not putting up with it,” said Brian K. Bond (he/him), chief executive officer of PFLAG National.
President Biden, our service members both deserve a significant raise in pay and to maintain their parental rights to get the healthcare their children need and deserve. We can and need to do both, and I, along with hundreds of thousands of PFLAG families across this nation, urge you to veto this NDAA and send it back to Congress to ensure our military does not harbor discrimination of any kind.

The mother of a gender-diverse adult child, Dr. Edith Guffey had a distinguished career spanning nearly 30 years with the United Church of Christ and now leads the 22-member PFLAG National Board of Directors. Additional officers include Regional Directors Council Chair and Board Co-Vice Chair Chad Reumann, new board member and Co-Vice Chair Sarah EchoHawk, Secretary Antón Castellanos-Usigli, and Treasurer Chad Libertus.
